Not To Pick on Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.)….

because that wouldn’t be fair.  It’s just that his list of earmark requests for fiscal year 2009 happens to be among the first to begin trickling out to the public.

It won’t be long until he is joined by a legion of other pork-barrel spenders and we’ll try to keep you abreast of the tsunami of requests that continue to roll into the committees.  Interesting that several of these, like the Shedd Aquarium, appeared in CAGW’s 2008 Pig Book.  Just how much of our tax dollars does the Shedd Aquarium need?  It has a fund balance of $200 million!

And where are the amounts of these requests, anyway?  They certainly are not bending over backwards to make it easier for taxpayers to get a clear picture of what is going on with their dollars, are they?
