Next step begins for FedRAMP

To update a January 20, 2012 Swineline blog post about Federal Risk Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), a June 5, 2012 article NextGov announced that the federal government has begun accepting security certification applications from cloud services vendors starting on June 6, 2012.

As previously stated in the Swineline blog post, while FedRAMP does not constitute a complete security certification for all agencies, it should provide baseline guidance for security criteria for cloud computing vendors.

This announcement is just one more step in the process of developing a standardized approach for evaluating information technology security that federal agencies can use when purchasing cloud computing tools.
