Help CAGW Restore Fiscal Sanity to Washington…

The ad was co-released by CAGW and Americans for Prosperity Foundation starting on October 21, 2012.

This ad is part of an ongoing communications program in CAGW’s decades-long fight against wasteful government spending, high taxes, out-of-control deficit spending, and a crippling national debt that threatens the future survival of our country.

CAGW is a 501(c)(3) private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization representing more than 1 million members and supporters nationwide.  CAGW works to eliminate waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government and has helped expose such high-profile symbols of federal profligacy as the Defense Department’s $640 toilet seat and $436 hammer and the $223 million congressional earmark for Alaska’s infamous “Bridge to Nowhere.”  Founded in 1984 by the late businessman J. Peter Grace and late Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Jack Anderson, CAGW is the legacy of the President’s Private Sector Survey on Cost Control, also known as the Grace Commission.  Learn more about CAGW.

I think you guys are a bunch of bigots. All you’re doing is firing up a bunch of angry white hicks. The national debt is a problem but not one that excuses blatant racism. You guys make me ashamed of my country. Nice work. EAD.

I found the ad interesting in 2 senses. First, I am taking the Rosetta Stone courses for Mandarin Chinese. So watching the ad helped me to know that I am catching on to wods and phrases. Second, the message is very a very compelling and important one. I agree with the message you guys are trying to get across with the public

Fear-mongering? Check. Anti-intellectualism? Check. Racist overtones? Check. All that’s missing is a Sarah Palin cameo and Christine O’Donnell teaching a lesson on the Constitution. Another excellent reminder of why I left the “GOP” and haven’t looked back. The Chinese? Pfft. THIS drivel- and the “minds” behind it- make me fear for the future of my country.

I hope this ad results in thoughtful discussion in Congress and the White House to address the real and significant issue of foreign nations, such as China, financing the increasing U.S. Government deficit. The “so now they work for us” line with the audience laughing at the end, however, may have the potential to result in the scapegoating of Asian-Americans, given the current economic climate and anti-immigration sentiment. I think the ad would still make its point if it were modified to delete that line and the audience laughing.

I had seen this advertisement a few days ago while watching CNN it grabbed my immediate attention like very few other ads I’ve seen in my 62 years of life; the ad was crisp, harsh slap in the face of the ignorant and politically complacent.

Loud and long applause to the team that dreamed this up and put it together – they have done well.

  • By Todd, @

While I am deeply troubled by our deficit this ad makes no logical sense. First of all it’s self-contradictory in that: If all empires fail due to, among other things, their debts and taxes – inferring massive social expenditures – then China, a fantastically more socialist regime than any in of the other Empires mentioned (including our own), would surely be in the same boat in 40 years.

In point of fact China had it’s own “Stimulus Package” in 2009 and it an=mounted to nearly 20% of it’s GDP, where as ours only amounted to less that 5%.

And the glaring omission, one that I’m positive the Chinese would note, is that other great symptom of great collapse is massive MILITARY spending.

Which oddly nobody here seems to mind in the least.

  • By Todd, @

I forgot to mention that the Chinese would hardly criticize the US for expanding government role in since the Chinese have fully socialized government run system. So. Yeah. The ad makes not much logical sense.

Anyone who has lived and worked in China can tell you that the Chinese people are good people, but they are controlled by a Communistic Regime that has no regard for human rights. This ad isn’t about rasicm, it is about a potential future if America continues down this corrupt path with blinders on to the truth. The Chinese government has been very open that they intend to be the next and ONLY World Superpower. The Chinese government has been implementing long range strategic plans for the past several decades with the end goal of having that video be their goverment’s reality. China already refers to america as Chinamerica. China has been stock piling natural resources from all over the world as well as forcing all families to kill any children after the first to ensure they have enough resources to survive. China has also been recruiting American and other countries to build state of the art manufacturing facilities in China and then when the company goes under (as they all seem to have done) the state of the art facility that was built at the expense of the company is now property of China. The USA owes over $600 Billion dollars to CHINA and CHina has made it very clear this is ONLY A LOAN. They will be coming to get their money back. From a military view point, China is brilliant. They only have the money to lend the USA and stock pile all these resources because of the huge trade deficit. Americans line up at stores to buy stuff they don’t need from China and now China has money to lend us. If anyone thinks that the tainted products coming over to the US is accidental, it is not. The government of China is getting rich and the majority of the Chinese people are still working in poverty conditions. Our government knows the truth, but how do you expose the truth when the truth owns you. This video is NOT racist. If you have traveled overseas, China is not the only country laughing at the blind arrogance of Americans and the dim prospects of our future. This video is giving credit to a brillant and strategic country of CHINA who has openedly and skillfully positioned itself to be the next world leader and OWN USA. Have you heard of BOC and seen these intials on standiums and other facilities across the US? BOC stands for Bank of China. China has already bought one real estate asset after another. All americans should be scared by the Government of China who we are endebted to. Does tiananmen square china ring a bell with anyone. God bless the souls of those CHinese students as they were killed by the government as they attempted to act as if they were free citizens. How do we stop this??? We can start by cutting off their money supply… stop buying stuff you don’t need from China. Every purchase you make from CHINA empowers the Communistic government of China. Even if it makes you angry, the truth is the truth. I would challenge every American to start basing their opinions on something other than emotion or what they heard from someone else. Take the time to do the research yourself and reference a wide array of media sources both national and international sources in your search of the truth. I would love for this to not be an option for my future and my families future. However, from my research and experiences, this will be AMERICA’s reality and the CHINESE government will have rightly won a well executed take over of america and the world if Americans continue to sit idly by and allow our corrupt government to continue down it’s gluttonous path. Again this video is NOT RACIST. Watch it again, the real enemy isn’t China or the Chinese people, but the video is stating that our real enemy is America itself. We have become gluttonous, greedy, and irresponsibile and lost our principals. We have become lazy and forget how hard many fought and what many lost to give us the freedoms we enjoy and the building block this country was founded on. China is just a country that is smart enough to take advantage of a country who has arrogantly fell asleep at the wheel. May we all wake up soon.

BECAUSE WALL STREET CALLS OUT WHAT THEY EXPECT THOSE COMPANIES STOCKS TO BE, AND THOSE COMPANY MANAGERS ARE UNDER THE GUN TO PRODUCE THOSE PRICES FOR THE INVESTORS.
IF THERE WAS A MEANS TO SHUT OFF ALL INFORMATION OF ALL TRADING FOR ONE MONTH STOCK PRICES WOULD STABILIZE AND PRODUCTS WOULD ONCE AGAIN BE PRICED AT REASONABLE LEVEL PRICES.

I watched this coming for over 30 years. Watched how we the people allowed ourselves to be slooowly desensitised to immoral beliefs and allow laws to be passed that never should have been. We no longer have a sense of right and wrong, instead everything is a shade of grey, we go with the latest fad and do not think for ourselves. We straddle the fence, rather than taking what inkling we have left of what is right and acting on it because it is unpopular, Then we have the nerve or stupidity to say “How did this happen in our neighborhood”, Well people, we are to blame for voting for parties rather than people because we only know how to play follow the leader rather than think for ourselves and be leaders instead. We are part of the Washington mob, because we voted them in and we are responsible. Look in the mirror at yourself and take an honest look at what you truly believe and why. If you can’t back up your your own beliefs with the facts, then you better rethink things and vote accordingly, And yes, the above ad is already happening. We need our industry back and our jobs and our borders and our morality and our ability to think and apply it. We can barely speak anymore without a problem, so I say get with it people or else, but I must be honest here, I don’t see anyone getting it, I think we’ve gone to far.I can say much more, But I really don’t think anyone would listen. The End!

We were isolationists around the 50-70′s. I remember the first Toyota…the mechanics thought it was a joke compared to the cars in the US. Then came NAFTA. When the board room saw they could save SOME MORE money by outsourcing, it wasn’t long before they realized Mexico charged too much! First company I remember leaving was Fruit of the Loom….Haven’t bought it since! I think they HAD 7 plants in the US. Quite a few jobs gone. Fast forward to today…Our national debt is being purchased by China and we are paying 21% interest…DID YOU HEAR ME? 21%….no one else will buy it, the dollar is too unstable. Everybody is pissed and it’s about time!!

Wasteful spending is just part, albeit a large part, of the problem facing the United States today. Taking God out of our country has caused a monumental change in culture and attitudes. We no longer respect life so we kill our unborn babies and call it “choice”; children are murdering other children and their parents and we blame it on “guns”(a perfect excuse by liberals to take away our right to bear arms) we’re performing genetic experimentation on human babies that we cleverly call “fetuses” to camouflage the fact we’re experimenting on humans and we justify it all by claiming it’s to help people with incurable diseases (we now accept that the means justify the end). Parents are afraid to discipline their children lest they get arrested for “child abuse” so the children are running wild. Sleazy, immoral television programming is now the “norm” for prime time under the guise of “freedom of speech”. That same freedom however, is squelched when someone wants to say a prayer in school or at a city council meeting. STD’s are rampant in grammar school children because we had a President who claimed “oral sex is not sex”; and our children are being taught that homosexual behavior is just another alternative (has anyone read the Bible regarding Sodom and Gomorrah and why it was destroyed by God?). Our forefathers fled their homeland seeking freedom OF religion, NOT freedom FROM religion. Kruschev predicted Russia would not destroy the United States but that the United States would destroy itself by rotting from within. If we don’t stop this insane spending and return to our Judeo-Christian roots, this will likely happen sooner, rather than later. What a travesty when we consider the men and women who sacrificed their lives for this great country during World War I and II!

  • By judy, @

fantastic commercial. i have seen it run on tv also. if this does not get people to vote against the communist, i do not know what else to do.

  • By VanS, @

Very sobering and based on realities some folks don’t want to face as evidenced by some caustic comments here. As 18th century Scottish historian Alexander Tyler said based on the Athenian republic “Democracy can only last so long, until the populace discovers that it can vote itself largesse from the public treasury, then it collapses.” I would only add the larger spiritual contextual issue: that is as one of the American Founders William Penn said, “Men who will not be ruled by God will be ruled by tyrants.” And as main father of our Constitution and freedoms James Madison said “We have based our experiment not on government but on the ability of the people to govern themselves according to the Ten Commandments of God”, ie self-government. Thus ultimately civilizations decline and fall due to moral and spiritual decay-turning away from the God of Heaven as our nation has. The economic demise so graphically depicted here is one component of that larger picture, despite how politically incorrect it is to say that to some. But kudos on excellent work.
PS to those who seek to distract from main issue by charging racism (a popular tactic of the left), that would be like charging racism for criticizing the actions of the Axis powers of Nazi Germany and Japan in WWII. The Chinese are wonderful people-it’s their Communist leaders that are of concern.

  • By J.K., @

It’s gonna get to the point that the only products made in the U.S.A. are toilet paper & paper towels. China is a Communist country, whose citizens are oppressed. We do not want this to happen to our wonderful United States of America. Impeach Obama and fire Pelosi!

  • By Daniel, @

Good ad, except in China the government has a far more already hardened tyrannical grip on it’s people. I wouldn’t expect a Chinese official to ever speak against government control of these things–such ideas are pretty much purely American in origin, are they not?

  • By Brian Blank, @

Nice ad but the problem is that we have already stupidly moved our Manafacturing base to Communist China to benefit companies like Wal-Mart and the Banks who could care less about America. Time to bring those industries home to stay and to Hades with the ChiComs

  • By jscope, @

The 14 trillion dollars debt was created by Democrats and Republicans in the White House and in Congress over decades, from Reagan to Obama. If you want to even address the problem, stop trying to just point the finger at the opposing party for partisan political gain. And If this massive debt has become the catastrophe you say it is, and it probably has, your solutions amount to the proverbial “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.” I suspect you have no real solutions, as do not any of the political parties or the so called experts putting out all these political publications, conservative or liberal, or the point persons on the television talk shows, so the point of CAGW seems to be just to promote one more political agenda. I don’t hear any real solutions from anyone.

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

To G. Weiss: Better yet, end all trade with Red China and Mexico, where all the jobs have gone. Also, there are Red Chinese technicians in Iran, and almost all the nukes and missiles in North Korea come from Red China. Red China IS OUR ENEMY. Cancel all the debt we owe her. If we pay the debt off, Red China will use the money to get more nukes and missiles to really plaster us in an all out nuclear war. Ain’t that nice.

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

To jscope: Read my other comment and quit listening to liberal TV and media. Most of it is manure anyway. I don’t believe anything I see or hear without checking out the facts and the sources. And the $13 trillion debt was mostly created by Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Sure we had debt before, but nowhere near $13 trillion. Check out your facts and you can check mine (while I check yours).

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

To Brian Blank: Right, bring our industries back and make it a law that any company that does business with Red China or Mexico will be closed permanently–their assets will be seized and top execs salaries will be garnisheed, along with massive fines forcing the companies into bankruptcy, never to rise again. That will pound them into the ground. Without our business, Red China will lose a lot of its prosperity and progress. And besides, Red China has technicians in Iran. Come on folks. We shouldn’t even pay back our enemy so they can use the money to buy more nukes and missiles against us! A large cave was found in Afghanistan filled to the brim with Red Chinese weapons. According to the Immigration, Customs & Enforcement Div. of Homeland Security, Red China is the world’s LARGEST exporter of ILLEGAL drugs in the world! A large portion of those drugs go the Mexican drug cartels, who smuggle them across the Rio to destroy millions of Amercan lives and their families. Close the Rio border also, since the drug cartels practically rule Mexico. Besides, Mexican president Calderon supports illegals.

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

Bless you Mary Boncher and all who agree with her. I hope all of you who support her embrace some or all of the solutions I’ve proposed in my other comments. I add that surgically nuking North Korea and Iran would eliminate rogue nations pointing their missiles at us irresponsibly. If Russia and Red China want to start WWIII because of that then so be it. I’d rather die in a nuclear blast or slowly from radiation then live under a Communist or Taliban type dictatorship where the secret police can bust down your door at any time, day or night. Patric Henry, that great Revolutionary War patriot, said, “Give me liberty or give me death!” You know what Gen. Washington gave every soldier at Valley Forge? A coin, with the words, “Victory or Death!”, inscribed on it. I want to die a man, and not a sniveling, cowardly, worm with no rights at all!

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

I agree with you Robert Ketterer, but look at my other comments for solutions. The Bible says, “Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while, we will reap a harvest of blessing, if we don’t get discouraged and give up.”(Galatians 6:9). This is similar to what Winston Churchill said to a school graduating class, “Never, ever give up!”

  • By RAMBO KATANA, @

To Rose Palmer: On 9/11 we lost more Americans than at Pearl Harbor! This is WAR! Why should we pay back our enemy? The Red Chinese will just use the money to buy more nukes and missiles to destroy us. They already have technicians in Iran helping it to build its nukes and missiles. Almost all the nukes and missiles in North Korea come from Red China. Anyone who thinks Red China is our friendly trading partner has got to be kidding.

To John Auyong: I’m an Asian American veteran of the U. S. Army and I don’t find any of that in this ad. That is how the Chinese Communists think. Do you know that they now have a massive laser research program ongoing from the massive trade surplus they have with us? The laser “defense” they’re building is to vaporize our missiles before they reach their targets while they’ll have us over a $10 a gallon barrel of gasoline (from their partner Iran–where they have technicians developing Iranian nukes and missiles) when they have the missiles that’ll reach their American targets. They’ll tell us, “So you don’t like $10 a gallon for gas. LOL! What are you going to do about it?” I’m an American first and an Asian second. A lot of my people died in combat in WWII to prove that they were Americans first. If you’re an American you should be willing to do the same.

To al leong: I’m a Japanese American. But I don’t have any loyalties or ties to Japan. Neither should you have any ties to China. I’m an American first like a lot of my people died in WWII to prove they were Americans first. In fact, I’m ashamed of what Japanese soldiers did in WWII: like beheading prisoners, pouring gasoline on prisoners and setting them on fire, the Bataan Death March (where thousands of American and Filipino soldiers were beaten and starved to death), and countless numbers of other atrocities. Are you an American first, and a Chinese second?

Hey, to hell with GM. We should never have given them money in the first place. Give it to efficient companies that had a profit and don’t need anyone to bail them out. Besides, most of GM products are unreliable and pretty much shoddy. In fact, ask GM to give the money back, even if it means seizing assets and garnisheeing wages of top execs (do the same to all the financial institutions that took stimulus money). We shouldn’t give handouts to anyone who can’t produce good, reliable products for a profit. We are a capitalist country, not a socialist one. The Chevy Corvair, Camaro, and Firebird are some of the shoddy products GM has produced in the past. You mean to tell me that if I produce junk products, and I go under, the government should give me stimulus money? Baloney! The UAW should have their workers re-trained and work in other auto companies or repair shops, and other areas of the auto industry.

GREAT SHOW…creates the same arrogant academic atmosphere found in most of America’s trashy “social engineering” courses taught at nearly any university.

WE WOULDN’T HAVE these current problems if every highschool in the nation required a one year THOROUGH course in all secular and religious aspects of our nation’s founding experience and the sacrifices it took to achieve it. Way too much reality for most fuzzy academics.

SINCE “JIMMA CARTA” created the Depotmunt of “Itchy”-cation in the late seventies, our academic standards and achievements have declined substantially.

EVERYBODY KNOWS…we didn’t need the department of education to prepare this nation to put men on the moon, build the space shuttle, Hoover Dam, nor to build the great cities of New York, Chicago, and others.

CARTER thought it would be useful to prepare the nation’s youth to live on “PEANUTS.”

The Chinese are allowing us to die by our own actions and we are all to blame. We sit here in our sanctimonious rage, write a few words with the hope of finding solace in the agreement of those that think like us and proceed to buy Chinese-made products.

The Chinese manipulate their currency to sell us cheap goods and refuse to buy ours and in effect, they lend us our own money. We turn against our neighbors for their softness in creating a safety net while we bristle at any attempt to weaken our armed forces. It all costs money. All of it!

The Chinese laugh at our arrogance and stupidity in spending borrowed money on an army that is 500% larger than theirs and the top five nations combined. They gloat at our weakness in providing health care to our citizens while our deficits grow and they laugh even harder at how this debacle separates us and makes us even weaker.

If you want to look at the heart of the reason for our sorry state begin by looking at your yourself.

  • By Jeff4thechildren, @

When will we realize that our standard of living must be earned by creating and making things that help the world be more productive (farm equipment, planes and autos, phones and computers, …). If America doesn’t create the most business-friendly laws and doesn’t stop spending money to support people (other than the truly, truly needy), than we will leave our kids a much poorer standard of living.

  • By Tom Louderback, @

My family saw this coming immediately after WWII. As soon as you learn to live on borrowed monies the sooner you will fall into their trap. Our current state proves this as fact and not a pipe dream.

  • By Seth Goldman, @

Psst…I have a secret. The real reasons for America’s huge deficits are these two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why don’t they make an ad on that? Instead these idiots put together a racist and offensive ad to find a convenient scapegoat. Let’s bring back the yellow peril fears. If I was a Chinese American I would be protesting to all the networks and the politicians. This ad is a crying shame. I have a better idea – why don’t we throw all the Chinese Americans into concentration camps instead. Chinese, Japanese, we dumb Americans can’t tell the difference.

No in your lifetime if you go by the past 40 years. This video goes along with all the ones that come out a week before elections. Boehner and McConnell certainly don’t get it. They never got the definition of “govern”.

I like the ad. I could see it happening. What the people in washington should do is bring back all the jobs that have been sent to a different country. There is plenty of people in this counrty that could the same job that these corparations send to other countries. But instead of helping the best country in the world the United State of America. They would weather send them jobs to a different country where they would only have to pay the like two dollars a day. It should be illegal.
The problem with this country is that the people who run it. All they care about is helping everybody else and not thinking we have any problems here. They should be more worryed about the United States’es problem then any other countries problem. During the revolutionary war we didnt have any help from any countries untill the end. But yet now a days this country is the first one to offer to help. This country needs to take of it’s own problems before they try to help other countries with their problems.
That is what I think and I support this ad. Americans need to wake up and help their country out before we don’t have all of the wonderful luxury that other countries have.

They killed the Auto business ,the clothing manufacturing and what ever else that became to costly to manufacture here in the United States. Remember in the 2nd World War we saved China’s neck from the Jappanesse, the Western world from the Germans and so on. Today we live in a cheap world wearing cheap Chinese junk etc.We should boycott the “made in China” label, and go back to manufacturing our own products.Stop this dependance on cheap manufactured goods (that are costly, dispite the extreemly chinesse labor),and stand up to the money grabing Unions.”We The People”should do what the new low life Politicians can not do.Stand up to China, make a deal, do not purchase their ill manufactured goods ,and put a tariff on them. I am fully aware what the immeadiate consiquinces will be ,but in the long run “We won’t have to work for the Chinese”.

I think the ad is absolutely right on target. But the American people are so very ill informed. All were over 40 years old. I asked thinking at least half would know. I was very disappointed. Help!

  • By Alex, @

This add is quite illustrative of the problems we face with our determination of pushing our politically correct views. While it’s pleasant to be “nice” we must also be assertive with our interests or face the result that other countries will just use our efforts against us in support of their own agendas

  • By carlcr, @

I think you are right-on! There is no excuse for our country operating on debt, and on fiat money printing which debases our dollar. We must have a balanced budget and live within our means. We must not have the political philosophy that government should solve most of our problems for us. As a country, we cannot survive if we continue on our present course. A debt based economy is unsustainable and has built-in dire consequences. I believe we are at a serious tipping point economically. The “trigger” may be coming up with the Fed’s QE2. It could bring about hyper-inflation in America. It is that serious. We also have unfunded entitlements that are way beyond our ability to pay. I believe with our current debt of over 13 trillion dollars, plus what we owe in those entitlements, our total debt would amount to well over 100 trillion dollars. There is no excuse for this nonsense! Our Congress and President do not wish to deal with that issue, just like they do not want to deal with our serious southern border issue. Elected officials need to do what is right rather than making their decisions on whether they might get elected next time. God help us.

This ad is a great exaggeration. The US economy is strong. The stimulus spending avoided a severe recession. We are climbing out of the hole and soon will see better times. So called runaway spending is but a smoke screen.

When you watch this video you get the big picture of what a very possible future might be. Our marriage of corporate greed for cheap labor and the consumer search for cheap goods has let China rise. soon they may become the head and we the tail. For a recovery we need to RAISE TAXES on Chinese goods. Why should Chinese goods be exempt from taxes and a US based mfgr has to pay tax? That is what “free trade” is – so let us raise taxes on China goods – the constitution called it a tariff.

I actually thought the ad was pretty fair and legitimate (ignoring that the Chinese used massive stimulus a little over a year ago, the silly notion of “turning their back on the principles”, which would suggest some things you’d probably disagree with like that Rome should never have converted to Christianity, slavery was a cool part of our economy, the British doctrine of exploitation and colonialism was baller, etc.) until the creepy and bizarre intentional asian-phobia inducing ending there with the portrayal of presumably Chinese students laughing at their “ownership” of the US. Probably unnecessary to get that insane and inflammatory if the point was just to make us see the risks of the US slipping from its current world status…

  • By Xito, @

You people – the folks behind this website – should be ashamed of yourselves. Why don’t you show who really owns our debt, including banks operating out of the UK, the OPEC oil exporting countries recycling their petrodollars, the Bank of Japan and the central banks of other Asian nations hoping to keep their currencies from appreciating, and Caribbean tax havens (a favorite domicile for hedge funds)? It isn’t hard – the URL is http://www.ustreas.gov/tic/mfh.txt – but I guess it doesn’t fit into your racist, right-wing narrative.

And as for those folks who commented favorably about this, maybe you should go to that website as well. And remember what you saw the next time you’re in WalMart, buying a 6-pack of tighty whitey underwear made in China for $3.95. Don’t want to give the Chinese government the wherewithal to buy lots of our bonds (both corporates and Treasuries)? Start saving your money and buying those bonds yourselves. *One Light Bulb at a Time*
A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one
grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn’t slow a train very much, a
billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following,
obviously written by a good American ..

    Good idea .. . . one light bulb at a time . . . ..

Check this out . I can verify this because I was in Lowes the other day for
some reason and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose
attachments .. They were all made in China . The next day I was in Ace
Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there.
They were made in USA . Start looking …

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects
someone else – even their job … So, after reading this email, I think this
lady is on the right track . Let’s get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey’s candy . I noticed, though, that it is marked
made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more.

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico …. now I have switched to
Crest. You have to read the labels on everything ..

This past weekend I was at Kroger.. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce
dryer sheets . I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE
brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, “Everyday Value. “I picked
up both types of bulbs and compared the stats – they were the same except
    for the price ..
The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing
that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the
Everyday Value brand was made in – get ready for this – the USA in a company
    in Cleveland , Ohio .

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that
    are made right here ..

So on to another aisle – Bounce Dryer Sheets …. yep, you guessed it,
Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada .. The Everyday Value brand was
less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets
performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at
    almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for
everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA – the job
you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so
we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from
    overseas companies!

    (We should have awakened a decade ago .. . .. . . . )

Let’s get with the program and help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and
create more jobs here in the USA.

I Passed this on …….. will you???????

  • By Nick, @

You guys are part of the problem not the solution. Yes government spending has been a problem ever since Regan started running up the bills. Lower taxes he said(lower for the rich), cut spending (while he put us in the red), Then come alone Bush Senior and Clinton, they actually cut our debt (but had to raise taxes a bit, rebuilt the highway system, but alas started NAFTA). And then came cowboy W. Started two wars and put the trillions on the credit card for our grand children to pay for. Wrecked the economy, borrowed from China and the Saudia’s and of course kept NAFTA in place and wanted to extend free trade to Central America, sell off Social Security (that would have great, just when the stock market was poised to fall).
Don’t tell me about the lies of the right. You guys are as dumb as it gets. Open your eyes and turn off the cable tv. Yes, the debt is out of control and needs to stop, but taxes have to be raised for the privlidged and corporations. Large multi-national corporations have got to stop using loopholes to get away from taxes. We need to bring manufacturing back to the USA, fix our infrastructure, care for the old, disabled the young. Ever notice how bad the healthcare in the USA is? There is nothing wrong with a good Nationalized Healthcare program. Europeans live longer than us, their babies have a 15 time better chance of surviving and they take care of the old. Maybe we can learn from others, or maybe we can keep believing the lies of the right and become another Mexico.

On Tax Cuts and the $5 Trillion Hidden Debt
By MERRILL GOOZNER, The Fiscal Times Posted: Nov 03, 2010

If you thought extending the Bush tax cuts for another ten years had a hefty price tag ($3.3 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office), check out this little-noticed Congressional Research Service report issued last week. Their tax wonk adjusted the CBO numbers for two factors – the increase in debt service and alternative minimum tax fix – and came up with a staggering $5 trillion price tag.
CBO chief Doug Elmendorf had harsh words for making the tax cuts permanent when he testified before the Senate Budget Committee last month. While admitting they would give a short-term boost to economic growth, over the long run “lower tax revenues increase budget deficits and thereby government borrowing, which reduces economic growth by crowding out investment,” he said.
CRS’s conclusion wasn’t much different. “Permanently extending all of the Bush tax cuts would not undercut the economic recovery, but would worsen the longer-term fiscal outlook and possibly signal a lack of progress in dealing with the long-term fiscal situation,” the report concluded.
Congress’ lame duck session gets underway November 15th. A half dozen must-do tax and spending measures are high on the agenda. With Republicans wanting to extend the Bush era tax cuts for everyone and the Democrats wanting to end them for the rich, the non-partisan experts in the stands have a single message for the quarterbacks on the field: whatever you do, don’t go long.

The cost of those tax cuts is going to go straight onto our national credit card unless we raise taxes from everyone else to pay for the $690 billion in tax breaks for the rich or we find $690 billion in spending cuts. And that means increased interest payments on the debt. When we add in the costs of additional debt service, the true price of maintaining the tax cuts for the wealthy jumps by almost $140 billion.** In total, keeping those cuts for the rich will cost almost $830 billion over the next 10 years.

Obama’s out of control spending !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just who is spending money out of control !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The total public and private debt in the U.S. is $50.2 trillion. Each year the U.S. hemorrhages about $800 billion in wealth due the negative trade deficit. Paul Craig Roberts writes, “…when work in general moves offshore, Americans lose the incomes associated with the production of the goods they consume.”

Giving consideration to those who built this nation – those who gave their lives for this nation – I believe those responsible for the fiscal condition in which the United States now finds itself in – I would wish for another Ronald Regan – but I don’t anticipate that happening soon enough. The current occupent of the White House does not appear to understand what is going on – hence he cannot fix it. Frankly, I think he doesnt give a damm about America.

One would wish for another President Ronald Regan. But alas, I do not forsee such. Frankly, I wonder if America is not doomed to total collapse. Well done CAGW, you passed the litmus test!
You know you are correct when liberals:
    * call it racist
    * say it offends
    * blame Bush
    * cite irrelevant to point statistics

You know you are accurate when liberals:
    * resort to name-calling you
    * accuse you of unfairness
    * label your points disparagingly
    * claim personal experience contradicting your subject
And of course, you know your subject has merit when liberals:
    * post in contrast essays praising European socialism
    * distort history to suit their agenda
    * summon the boogiemen i.e. corporations, the rich, multinationals et al
    * unfoundedly call your ideas lies

What particularly caught my attention is that the first 18 search results all referenced The Deficit Trials ad in the websites. Reagan era, for those who did not bother to read the article. This new ad is not about Ds and Rs, it is about conservatism versus liberalism. Too many liberals live to be offended, so they flood a comment board on a clearly stated conservative website. They cannot refute with logic, so they decry moderate Republicans, posture their utopian one-class world, and spew venomous speech, none of which proves anything except their inadequacies. Note, the ad is fiction, a what if scenario. Funny how liberals are all for fiction depicting evil America suffering for imagined transgressions, but produce fiction showing the possible folly of reckless management and they are all aghast.

A very cogent ad. The explanation is clear.

So many arm-chair politicians. Goodness sake alive. We all got into this mess thinking we could have something (including an undue portion of the planet’s resources) for nothing. Now it’s time to pay the piper and get on a level with the rest of the world. It’s painful; too bad. Suck it up, get on with a massive redo, or join the third world. More blame pinning on this party or that will just get us there faster.

We are NOT God’s (or anything’s) chosen children to run the world.

  • By Samantha, @

The mess we are in now started under Jimmy Carter. It escalated under Clinton, and now it’s barely on life-support. Go back to Democrats being in control, to see when things started going downhill. After all, they want the Capitalist system to fail, so they can control everything in the country. Period.

We need a miracle to save our country now. Watch Glenn Beck to get the WHOLE story. And if you just start attacking Beck, then you have not been a regular viewer of his show, because he tells it like it is, in THEIR own words, not his.

My words; It’s the Democrats fault, along with the Republicans who fell under their spell. I registered as a Republican, to vote Carter out, but changed to Independent before the last presidential election. And I have always crossed the line and voted for a Democrat, if I felt they were the better person for the job. Because I care about what’s best for the country, not the party!

  • By JensenAlphaMale, @

Clearly those who made the add have no idea how debt works. Debt is a loan with no ownership covenants. Therefore even if China held every piece of debt of the United States, they still cannot “own” the United States.

The irony of the ad is that Americans since it’s inception have promoted it’s capitalist models through out the world and now spend significant resources persueing other countries in those endevours. Now when a country like China promotes capitalism and trade, we perpetuate propaganda like this. Irony at it’s finest.

This commercial is extraordinarily offensive to me as an American. Whether or not you agree with the policies advocated in this ad does not justify this kind of fear mongering. This is hurtful to me, personally, as my sister is adopted from China and I see this ad as portraying the Chinese the way the Russians were portrayed in the Cold War, and that scares me. Further, I think that this spreads an ignorant and fear-mongering view that take over by the Chinese is some sort of imminent catastrophe, when in fact it quite frankly is not. Giving people the false dichotomy between Chinese dictatorship and the policies you happen to agree with hurts the discourse that makes us as a democracy strong and is morally reprehensible.

  • By Branny, @

This is xenophobic nonsense. You don’t need to demonize China in order to push your childish quasi-libertarianism.

  • By magvista, @

This ad is another classical act of blaming and finding the scapegoats in order to make the Americans look less stupid. This country is going down to the drain thanks to people who created this Ad. I only saw racism, bullying, and fact twisting being promoted in this ad. I was a support of CAGW. What a shame!

  • By Peter Spencer, @

This video is disgracefully insensitive — no, insulting — to Chinese people. It has the potential to inspire the type of racism this country is striving to overcome.

  • By Elizabeth, @

I am personally offended by this commercial. You portray Chinese people as evil and villainous in order to promote your cause. I may or may not agree with what you stand for, but you have no right to put such a heinous commercial on television that plays on the ignorance and paranoia in the United States in order to provoke change. Please, grow up.

  • By Jojo, @

This ad (whoever made it, good idea!!) is only intended to create awareness among US citizens and clearly not support or hate Chinese or anyone else. Also, in spite of the fact that in the future, it is not possible for Chinese government to over take us, this ad tries to make us aware of the debt that we are adding everyday.

  • By cooperati, @

These are a group of good looking kids, lead by an idealist professor, much like you will find here today. The issue being proposed here is that their nation profited by our nation’s current failures. I ask you, will you let any country profit from the weakness of yours? When you have a chance to stand up and call for common sense, not mindless hysterics, will you do so before you are subject to the consequences of a series of national catastrophies? What will you do to make things better?

  • By disgusted, @

Your ad is disgusting – your faith in the USA is, too say the least, nil. And the way you think CAGW is going to “fix” it is terribly misleading. I’m sure China will really like your ad! If you think that ad is going to change things for the Good of All of the USA you’d better think a little more!! Again, disgusting!

  • By Samuel James, @

You twist the truth until it is unrecognizable and steal from the mouths of the poor. I do not think this is what Jesus would do…

  • By Dean, @

Your ad is full of lies! If you truly want to stop “giving away” America, tell Congress to STOP giving multi-billion TAX CUTS to corporations! “Trickle down” economics did NOT work in the Reagan era and they certainly will not work NOW.

  • By Dean, @

By the way, unions did not cause businesses to “flee to overseas locations. GREED did! There is a constant push for profit, more profit, always more profit. I am currently unemployed, as the office of the company I worked for is expected to produce a 20% profit, each and EVERY month. So, I have joined the other 30+ people who have lost their jobs from this one office in the past 3.5 years. The office is now trying to function with just 3 employees. I hold out little to no hope of ever being called back to my job.

The wealth of country increased greatly during the last couples of decades, and 90% of the people become poorer, all the increased wealth go to the rich. They control the government and the congress. There are not Left and Right in America only Right and Far Right (Union is Right Wing too!). People’s interest just can’t be represented by the all-rich congress. The democracy in US is false! The riches are making it into a fascist state. I love this ad.It shows the truth of what is going to happen here.Part of our problem is that almost everything you buy now comes from asia. This is really killing the once great usa. When will americans wake up. now is the time to buy products made in north america by north american companies before its to late, which i think is.remember how great it was here 40 years ago. back then most products were made here.lots of good paying jobs paying lots of taxes to support government jobs etc.now look at the mess we are in . cant even afford to pay our police and teachers.my solution is to remove all gas taxes to help the economy and tax dollar for dollar all imports from outside north america, and encourage people to buy north american products.

  • By Chris, @

I appreciate your watching out for our hard earned money, but I have to say this is a really offensive and racist ad. I think the time for piting one against another has ended. Please be mindful in your advertising.

I was appauled when I saw this commercial. I understand that everyone needs to know about the national debt. But why isn’t it just put out to show where all of the national debt came from. It’s bad enough that we do owe them the money but to show us being ridiculed went too far.

  • By Marti, @

This new smear campaign more than anything, gives the message that Communism and Socialism must be a much better economical choice for governments than Democracy! Hmmmm….

  • By Stephen Miller, @

Too bad CAGW has no knowledge of US economic history. In the last great Depression of the 1930s, the Democrats stabalized the US economy from 1932-1940 after the Republicans followed the “leave it alone” policies from 1928-32 that created over 20% unemployment. Bush did the same from 2006-08 and dug a huge hole while wasting millions on 2 wars. FDR’s efforts not only turned the economy around but allowed us to respond quickly to the production needs of WWII. CAGW’s current policies would drive unemployment above 20% while the rich get richer. No thanks!

Stop complaning and impeach Obama along with Biden. Most anyone can replace him that has good management abilities.

I would donate a large sum, but thanks to Obama, my business has gone under.

  • By Michael Russell, @

Well done. Excellent use of tribal jingoism, your ability to manipulate white, English speaking, American racists is without equal.

That said this “non-partisan” TAX-EXEMPT organization has created a very successful video (with very high production value$), to bad most of the people who watch it will be motivated to vote against Obama and Democrats, instead of the true culprits of our US National Deficit and Debt. http://www.lafn.org/politics/gvdc/Natl_Debt_Chart.html

NOTE: Obama/Democrat Stimulus spending totals only $800-Billion (over 8 years), is designed to leverage private sector spending via tax breaks and loans rather than actual spending, and half of it hasn’t even been spent, yet it already worked. The rest of the Deficit Spending since 2009 has been to pay for Wars and Tax-Breaks started by the previous administration, while Tax Revenue has decreased because of the Bush-Depression (Did I mention the BUSH TARP Bank Bailout?).

If you look closely at the US Budget, the only way to end the Deficit spending is to cut Military Spending by at least 50% ( http://projects.washingtonpost.com/top-secret-america/ ), Cut Medical Insurance Costs in the USA by at least 50% ( http://www.latimes.com/health/boostershots/la-heb-healthcare-reform-anniversary-20110325,0,2028172.story ), and cut Tax-Breaks for the wealthy (i.e. >$250k/year) by at least 50% ( http://www.savingtoinvest.com/2010/05/new-tax-breaks-and-stimulus-credits-in-the-american-jobs-and-closing-tax-loopholes-act-of-2010.html), yet REPUBLICANS have raised an Iron Curtain to any such fiscal response.

But this FEAR CHINA ad is not aimed at those capable of study, it is aimed at an emotional response from a bunch of racists. If you check out the background of the web-site founders, you will see their true values. Nice that they gave us a place to comment and present counters to balance their excellent propaganda (their mistake).

  • By David Bennethum, @

You put out an ad that is clear-cut fear- mongering. You tout yourselves as the group that exposed the defense department’s toilet seat and hammer, yet you have NO CREDIBILITY because you do not attack the national security budget, which is 1.2 trillion, not 650 billion. When groups like yours start talking about tax and spending policies that won’t impoverish U.S. citizens, I’ll listen. I want to see an ad from your organization that criticizes the size of the national security budget and tax policy that allows corporations like GE to pay no taxes. Otherwise, you are just a mouthpiece for the super wealthy. You’re just not credible. What are YOU afraid of in doing as I suggest?

  • By Carrie Benson, @

This ad compaign is offensive, misleading, and racist. And why doesn’t the “speaker” comment on the reason why there is so much debt? Pandering to the rich, ten years of war, and representatives who are beholden to big businesses that park their money in other countries to avoid paying taxes? Your blatant propaganda against this country and disregard for the real issues is ridiculous and offensive.

  • By James S. Zimmerman, @

As long as we continue to vote for and support incompetents, we will continue down this spiral path to destruction. Unfortunately, the poor and all those protected and supported by the governments’ hand-outs, will continue voting for the incompetents. Thank God we have the will and intelligence in those in the Tea-Party movement. But we need a leader to take charge and maintain consistent, co-ordinated t fiscal solutions!!

  • By James S. Zimmerman, @

I’ve read some of the comments, deriding the ad as “discrimination against the Chinese”. It truly saddens me that so many see the social “blast” as opposed to the message!! This message is REAL & STRONG, a clear statement of our declining world leadership. With so many seeing the “shadow of hate” as opposed to the real issues, this nation is destined for failure.

  • By Gaylon Brown, @

All you do is keep asking for money and you admit in your own ad that you have been trying for decades to reduce federal spending. What about us millions who are out of work and our unemployment runs out? You remind me of the cartoon where the eagle is swooping down on the little mouse and the mouse gives him the finger. What good have you done so far? Why dont you state the facts on TV ads about who lobbys for how much and gets it? Since it is as bad as you say then you have failed at what you are doing as much as the porkers have ruined our country.
